| Panorama Competition 2007 - The Jury | | For this years' Panorama Competition we have been able to bring together a highly qualified Jury of various interesting backgrounds. Their areas of expertise range from film making, panoramic photography, lens manufacturing, publishing to the engineering of digital sensors. Together, they have selected the winner and the winner's list based on the criteria expression, creativity and technical merit.

Wim Wenders was born in Düsseldorf, in 1945. One of the most influential figures of the New German Cinema in the Seventies, his films – among them The American Friend (1978), Paris, Texas (1984), Wings of Desire (1987) or Buena Vista Social Club (1999) – has won numerous prestigious awards and international critical acclaim. A major survey of Wenders’ photography, Pictures from the Surface of the Earth, has toured museums and art institutions worldwide since 2001. Wim Wenders has also published numerous books of essays and photographs. He lives in Los Angeles and Berlin with his wife, photographer Donata Wenders. He is President of the European Film Academy, and member of the order “Pour le eacute;rite”. |

In his photographic works Michele Perrotti uses the panorama as the predominant format as it gives an all-encompassing view of the location. | | | |  | Richard F. Lyon United States http://www.dicklyon.com Richard Lyon is a senior research scientist at Google. Prior to joining Google in 2006, he was Chief Scientist and Vice President for Research of Foveon, Inc., where he helped to invent, design, and build novel cameras and sensors. His experience in research, including his time at Apple, Schlumberger, Xerox, Bell Labs, and JPL, is summarized in his IEEE Fellow citation, "for contributions to VLSI signal processing, models of hearing, handwriting recognition, and electronic color photography." Lyon's experience with panoramic photography dates from the 1960s, when he built several 360-degree film panoramic cameras.
