| | After many successful panoramic photos taken with my Seitz Roundshot 220 VR camera (as architect I have always been fascinated by wide images, an attempt to capture the "spirit of places"), I began to explore other possibilities of the camera. The following pictures belong to a series of peripheral photo experiments. The concept behind these pictures is to capture the whole, the essence of a subject, showing it from multiple points of view, simultaneously, in a cubist way. These pictures are abstractions, they can't actually be seen in real life, asking the viewer for a mental effort to be understood. Choosing the panorama or turntable mode, I put the camera pointing directly to the subject with the model spinning around and the film running synchronically. For colour pictures I used a 120 Fuji RDP III and for black & white a 120 Ilford HP4 film. No digital effects or tricks have been used, just a simple scan. Virginio Moutinho | | | |
